A Qualitative & Quantitative Developmental Math Assessment and Intervention Protocol  New eCourse now available!

Picture
This individualized assessment is intended to be used by the math or learning specialist, special educator, or general education teacher, and is geared for grades 1-6.  This assessment will allow the administrator to quickly identify the developmental level of the student in the area of number and operation.

Using classroom test data is not enough when trying to assist a student who is significantly behind, since he or she can be at least 2 years below grade level.   It is important to be able to see exactly where the student is so the teacher can assist in moving on to the next developmental phase, not just try to cope with what was happening in the classroom.

When working with these students, growth may not  transfer to standardized tests for a couple of years, even though developmental improvements may be made.  Therefore, it is important to have a way to track growth in a quantifiable way.   This assessment not only allows the administrator to note the way children are solving problems, but it quantifies what the child is doing so that progress can be recorded and tracked.

This assessment is accompanied with an intervention protocol.  Key activities are included which target specific concepts with which the child is struggling.  These are the most critical activities  in helping the child move from one phase to another.  The length of time to spend on an activity, or series of activities, vary depending on the individual students.

This assessment guide comes with fillable pdf worksheets for easy tracking of student data.  Score sheets also automatically calculate (this feature is not supported in Preview, seems to work in Adobe only).
